At Northern each Wednesday throughout the year during the 1:30 to 2:30 period is reserved for student activity and development. This first student development will have host a Q&A session hosted by the NCSA with a chance to win prizes!

Later that night at 8pm we will also be hosting a scavenger hunt! Students will be divided into teams and must follow clues to that lead them to Frosh leaders at different posts and try to collect items. The team with the most items win! Scavenger hunts are games of cunning skill and deception so beware of tomfoolery from opposing teams!

Frosh week schedule: Day 1.

Over the next few days we’ll be releasing the schedule of events for frosh week 2010. School starts Tuesday, September 7th with an orientation day at the Haileybury campus starting at 9am. It is an excellent chance to get to know your way around the school and meet some new people! That night from 7pm to 8pm the NCSA will be hosting a Drum Cafe where students will learn more about leadership through the interactive playing of African drums! Check out www.drumcafe.ca for more info!

Haileybury, give me a drum roll… no… like this *ratatatatatatatatatatatatatatat*

Keep that drum roll going people! Since it’s less than two months until we are all back in the books in the great company of friends old and new, I thought it would be an excellent time to unveil the super secret theme for FROSH WEEK! Up until now all the details have been locked up and no one was able to secure information about it without a retinal scan to confirm their identity and a polygraph to assure their intentions with the information. It’s gonna be a good time. Just don’t get voted off the island….

HST. Oh good, it’s not everywhere!

Just incase you were starting to get used to the fact that we pay more for things like gas and cigarettes (but, you don’t smoke because you know it will make you cool kill you) due to HST, here is a list of things that it is NOT getting charged on. A few things to make special note of as students are:
Tutoring and Tuition Fees
Residential rents
Basic groceries
Municipal public transit
Health and education services
Child care
Music lessons
Prescription drugs

Click on the link for a complete list of what is and is not taxable provided to us by the ministry of revenue.

The list is also available as a download as a free mobile application. But HST is charged on internet services now too so it will cost your more to do that then it would of before.
